About GreenTea

GreenTea is a non-profit social network with a simple promise: all profit goes to fighting climate change. We exist to prove that a social platform can be good for the people who use it and good for the planet — without the manipulation, outrage, and endless scrolling that define most of the industry.

The problem we're targeting

Mainstream social media makes money by holding your attention for as long as possible. That single incentive shapes everything: feeds engineered to be addictive, outrage amplified because it spreads, and a constant pull to stay online. We started from the opposite question — what would a social network look like if it wasn't trying to maximise your time on it?

How GreenTea is built differently

The opt-in ads model

We're honest that a non-profit still needs revenue to fund the donations that are the whole point. Rather than force ads on everyone, GreenTea makes them strictly opt-in. The default is off — and when ads are off, the ad network isn't loaded for your account at all. If you choose to turn ads on, you're choosing to contribute to climate charity that way, and you can turn them back off any time. No feature is ever gated behind ads. In our first version, ads are non-personalised.

Where the money goes
