Terms of Service
These are the ground rules for using GreenTea. We’ve kept them short and readable on purpose — no wall of legalese. By using GreenTea, you’re agreeing to what’s below, so it’s worth a skim.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using GreenTea (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
2. Who we are
GreenTea is operated by Nick Houghton and friends, in Canada — a non-profit social network that donates its profit to fighting climate change. You can reach us any time at greenteaadmin@gmail.com.
3. Your account
You’re responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your login details secure. Some features — like posting — require you to verify your email address first. If you think someone’s used your account without permission, tell us promptly.
4. Acceptable use
GreenTea only works if people treat it well. So you agree not to:
- post unlawful, harassing, hateful, or infringing content;
- spam, scrape, or try to get around the Service’s limits (like the daily character limit or daily post cap) or its security;
- impersonate others or misrepresent who you’re affiliated with;
- upload malware or otherwise interfere with how the Service runs.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
5. Your content
You own what you post. To actually run the Service, you grant GreenTea a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute your content — solely to operate and provide the Service. That’s it; we’re not claiming your work as our own. You’re responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to share it.
6. Advertising and “Impact”
Ads on GreenTea are opt-in and off by default — you’re never shown ads unless you choose to turn them on, and no feature is ever locked behind them. You can read exactly how this works, and how data is handled, in our Privacy Policy.
If you opt in, you can build up Impact, an in-app counter that reflects your contribution. A few things to be clear about:
- Impact is representational only. It has no monetary value, can’t be redeemed, and can’t be transferred or exchanged.
- It’s a record of participation, not a currency — there’s nothing to cash out and nothing to spend.
7. Non-profit and donations
GreenTea is run as a non-profit, and the whole point is to donate its profit to fighting climate change.
8. Third-party services
GreenTea relies on a few outside providers to work — for example storage, email delivery, and (if you opt in) the Google advertising networks. We may also link to other sites and services. Those third parties have their own terms and privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for them.
9. Termination
You can stop using GreenTea and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these Terms, or where it’s necessary to protect the Service or the people who use it.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We can’t guarantee the Service will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GreenTea and its operator won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we’ll give you a more prominent heads-up. If you keep using GreenTea after an update, that means you accept the revised Terms.
